It is your responsibility to listen closely for your number to be called and respond accordingly

For that reason when the ‘TR-Proctors” take the Floor we ask that you give them your undivided attention.

After all the players have been escorted out of the Gaming Pit. Proctor A will begin to call the next block of ten numbers and we will begin the process again.

Once again during that time we ask that you give your undivided attention to the Proctors. ***If you fail to hear your number you will forfeit your oppturinity to compete. ***

We ask that you consider and respect the time and skill level of your fellow opponents, and take this serious.

Tournaments are about more than just winning and bragging rights. It's about SKILL!!  Long gone are the days when video gaming was considered a “petty kiddy” past time”!  If anyone has truly held a controller in there hands, then they know it’s about raw guts, clutch comebacks, hours of training, & damn  SKILLS!!

So if you want to talk about meeting new friends, blah blah..then go ahead…but this is not the main purpose for us here at the OVGTA. Our goal here is to reward that person who has put the work and efforts in honing that SKILL!!  Have you heard of anyone sitting down at Vegas with a seat  at the “million dollar table” to make friends;  In Your Dream!!   You sit down at the table to turn that SKILL into COLD HARD CASH!!!

That is the GOAL here at the OVGTA!! To reward you in CASH for YOUR SKILLS!!!   So listen up closely to these rules… since if you walk into this Gaming  PIT..every night someone WILL  walk away with the PRIZE!! Maybe one night you will have the SKILLS for it to be YOU!!!

Nomenclature

Bracket

A flow chart indicating whom should play at any point in the tournament;

This is completely back-office.!!
For fair play you will have no say in your match up’s and no idea who you are playing personally!!
We want each player to be able to rest assure that their style of game play will not be analyzed or copied.
This completely deterministic nature of OUR bracket ensures FAIR play 100% of the time. TR uses SINGLE elimination brackets. NO second chances, people!! It’s $4k on the line bring YOU’RE “A-GAME” or stay at home

Match

A pairing between two people in the bracket, the two people play each other until a winner is determined. The final Match in the tournament determines who WINS the pot. No 2nd place or 3rd place winners here!
1 winner
Everybody else try harder next time

  • Fighters: A Match is the best 3 out of 5 games.
  • Sports:   5 min quarters for sports
  • First Person Shooters: Set ‘X’ variables.

The bottom line is that we give you ample amount of time to see if you can beat your opponent. Believe me if you lose, it’s not a fluke…just try harder next time.

Game

A Game is just what you think it is... a single contest between 2 players or player Teams.  For example, a game in “VF4 Evo” is over when someone wins 5 out of 10 rounds. A game of “Capcom VS SNK 2” is over when one player loses his last character. Make sure you understand the BIG difference between a Match and a Game.

Game Station

A single gaming booth with its own private TV closed off and linked to your opponent’s station. The Sole purpose of the game station is to protect YOUR IDENTIY as a player and YOUR gaming STYLE, from the other participants in the tournament. No scouting here people.

The General Manager (GM)

The person/panel that’s ultimately responsible for running the whole Tournament.

TR- Proctors

The GM has a lot of people helping him. These people usually watch over Matches and help to resolve conflicts and dictate the flow of the tournament thus, those people are called Proctors. They are tournament officials. While they can help to resolve conflicts, the GM panel is the ultimate authority in making the final call.

Registration

All participants must register well before the tournament. See the schedule and registration page for more details.

Entry fees are non-refundable, but can be moved to a next session if the GM panel is given a 48 hour notice.
